The two day film festival on the North Devon coast will screen some of the world’s best surf and environmental films.

Following last year’s successful event, The Surf & Conservation Film Festival will be taking place in Croyde this year over two days.

The weekend combines two global surf and environmental film festivals – Save The Waves Film Festival (Friday) and the Edinburgh Conservation Film Festival (Saturday) – right in the heart of the North Devon World Surfing Reserve, with back-to-back films, live music and workshops.

On Friday, the world’s only international surf and environmental film festival returns to Devon for its 2026 tour. Featuring stunning surf and ocean films while supporting conservation efforts to protect surf ecosystems across the globe. Save The Waves’ films will air on a giant outdoor screen from 8pm, with live music before, and local food available too from The Lazy Wave.

The films include ‘Pertama: The Life of Rio Waida’ (Rio Waida’s rise from Bali to the world stage) and ‘Save the Bay’ (Corralejo Bay’s fight to protect its marine ecosystem from industrial development).

On Saturday there will be a full day of free family workshops from 12pm, then live music from Jack Dayman and a panel talk, before the Edinburgh Conservation Film Festival programme, including ‘The Detectorists’ (the viral otter documentary!) and the award-winning South West peatland film ‘The Living Layer’.

The film festival event will be a two day celebration of waves, wildlife, and the people working to protect them. Bring a deckchair or a camping mat – and DryRobes will be available to rent if you need to get warm.

The festival is organised by North Devon World Surfing Reserve, Earth Action North Devon, North Devon Coast National Landscape and North Devon UNESCO Biosphere, and is being supported by John Fowler Holiday Parks and The Manor House Inn.
