The Sense and Sensibility actor filmed on Dartmoor, Devon villages and beach locations for the new big screen production.
The new film, directed by Georgia Oakley and starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Esmé Creed-Miles, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw had it’s world premiere last night on Leicester Square.
“Filming in Dartmoor in Devon was one of the most special experiences of my whole life.”
Edgar-Jones plays Elinor Dashwood in the film and had some wonderful words to say about filming in Devon: “Filming in Dartmoor in Devon was one of the most special experiences of my whole life. If you haven’t gone, you have to go. It’s so beautiful” she told Screen Daily from the red carpet.
With a wide variety of terrain and unique locations from bustling cities to coastal cottages and vast moorland and countryside, Devon has played a starring role in a number of big screen productions and television.
For Sense and Sensibility, the production filmed across Dartmoor, Sheepstor, Yelverton and on Mothecombe Beach.
“There was something about the wildness of that terrain and that landscape and, you know, at that point, the women have lost their fortune, and they’ve moved to Barton (Cottage), and they have to kind of look after one another. It just made me realise how strong the women are and the fact that they come together as a family and get through this time. And Eleanor is very much of the earth. For me, that landscape was just magic.”
Sense and Sensibility is out in cinemas on September 25th 2026 in the UK and October 16th in the US and you can read more about the production and Devon filming in our latest feature.
