More Devon locations to feature in BBC drama’s new series currently being filmed in the south west.

The latest series of TV drama Beyond Paradise has started filming in the south west, with the production confirming that a number of Devon and Cornwall locations are being used, including some new sites.

Beyond Paradise is set in Shipton Abbott, a fictional Devon town and the film crews are heading back to Looe and Pentillie Castle, Cornwall – both of which have already featured in the show.

In addition to previous locations used, filming will also take place in Launceston, Saltash and Tavistock for series four.

Councils have been working with the production team to accommodate the filming while minimising public disruption.

Production teams have also been seen at West Devon Club on Abbey Place, Tavistock.

The owner of the Sardine Factory restaurant in Looe, Cornwall, which has been used in the show before, told the BBC that the filming and publicity has had a positive affect on the town.

“Beyond Paradise has had a very positive impact on the town. People are visiting us more here, which is great.  And we’ve seen an uplift in bookings and I’m very positive that other businesses have too. We all need that at this time of year and it has been warmly welcomed.”

Adam Hackett, owner of Choklet, a cocktail bar in Looe, said the impact of the show had been “amazing”.

“We’re seeing a huge footfall off the back of the programme,” he said, with a 20% rise in takings compared to the same time last year.

Series four of Beyond Paradise continues the story of Humphrey and his partner Martha while also following Detective Inspector Goodman and his team, as they solve a series of bizarre crimes.

The production company shared a recent update on Facebook saying: “We’re back in Shipton Abbott!  Filming has begun this week on the brand-new series of Beyond Paradise. Expect plenty of puzzling twists and turns as the team gear up for another series full of mystery, humour, and heart on the sunny shores of Devon and Cornwall.”

The release date for series four has not yet been confirmed.
