The award-winning film is out in UK cinemas in January and crew included members of the Film Devon Crew Network.
Chloé Zhao’s latest feature stars Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley and is produced by Steven Spielberg. Hamnet was the Mayor of London’s Gala at the festival in October and the BFI have today announced that the film is the winner of the Audience Award for Best Feature Film.
Audiences that attended the BFI London Film Festival in person and went to screenings across the UK were able to vote on the awards, and the BFI have confirmed that it had its highest-ever audience numbers this year which is great news for the British film industry.
Members of the Film Devon Crew Network worked on Hamnet, helping to further champion the talented and professional film and television crew based in Devon.
BFI London Film Festival Director Kristy Matheson said: “Our biggest thanks go to the artists who generously shared their unique views of the world with us this year. Across screenings, talks, exhibitions, immersive experiences, it was a delight to see industry and audiences engage with each other and this programme – proving once again the joy and comfort we all find in screen culture.”
Film Devon will be attending the 70th BFI London Film Festival. The festival dates are Wednesday 7 October to Sunday 18 October 2026.
