The TV series that helps prospective buyers find their dream home in the country, headed to Devon’s south coast for its latest episode.
“Stunning turquoise sands, sprawling verdant countryside, warm summers…and cream teas.” That’s how Escape to the Country’s Steve Brown introduced the beautiful coast of South Devon in the latest episode of the popular series.
In the episode, which aired this week (27/1/26), the crew helps a couple from a large town in Greater Manchester find a new home with green credentials so they can live lighter on the land.
Filming took place during some glorious blue sky days in April and May last year, with the episode airing on BBC One this week on January 27 2026.
The show also filmed with local resident Martin, who runs the wonderful Ley Arms pub (or ‘The Ley’ as it is affectionately known locally) and its boutique rooms, in the heart of Kenn Valley, Devon.
Martin shared his story of moving back to the West Country and refurbishing and redecorating the stunning 13th-century thatched country inn, whilst retaining it’s traditional charm. A real chocolate-box pub that is truly a Devon institution.

The episode also features Devon town and village highlights, including Monkton, the historic market town of Cullompton, Fordmore Farm Shop, Branscombe beach, Ottery St Mary, and the gateway to the Jurassic Coast; Sidmouth – renowned for its unique red cliffs.
If you missed it, you can catch the Devon episode (series 26. ep.26) on BBC iPlayer now.
