Developed as a joint project between two Devon-based media production firms, the studios are custom-built for audio, video, live production and remote collaboration.
As the Devon creative industries continue to grow, a new production facility has now officially opened in Plymouth, Devon to support audio, video, livestreaming and remote collaboration for productions in the South West working with clients nationally and around the globe.
With recent projects including ADR (dialogue production) for episodes of BBC1’s flagship comedy ‘Amandaland’, and Alien:Earth, live global television for GOD TV, ‘French & Saunders Titting About’ for Audible, radio drama for the BBC, and working on audiobooks for names including Miranda Hart, Monty Halls and Dawn French, the facility is already helping productions around the UK.
The operation is a shared project between Fresh Air Studios and Voiceovers Ltd, both of which provide services to the creative and media industries in the UK and internationally, from their base in Devon. Voiceovers Ltd was actually the operator of the world’s first voiceover directory, established in 1998, whilst Fresh Air Studios provides video podcast production and ADR for films and TV, plus live programme production.
To celebrate the opening in Plymouth, Voiceovers Ltd and Fresh Air Studios called upon one of the UK’s most-beloved double acts for the ribbon-cutting ceremony – Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders.
“This is a proud and significant moment and a real cause for celebration for Devon’s creative economy.”
Alongside French & Saunders for the grand opening, was Deputy Lieutenant of Devon and Chair of Devon Chamber of Commerce, Richard Stevens.

“It was a genuine pleasure to be here as Deputy Lieutenant of Devon to celebrate this remarkable achievement. Paul Philpott and Gary Churcher are outstanding entrepreneurs who truly believe in their sector and in their team. They have invested not just money, but immense time, energy and passion to create a first class facility that is genuinely unique in the South West. This is a proud and significant moment and a real cause for celebration for Devon’s creative economy” said Richard Stevens.
“This is about giving creatives the infrastructure to deliver at the highest level without having to head to London.”
Gary Churcher, Managing Director of Voiceovers Ltd said: “These facilities are incredibly flexible, supporting everything from a single voiceover recording, right up to live broadcast. Including remote collaboration, bringing together clients, agencies and producers regardless of location. We’re proud to be building something practical, busy, and genuinely useful for the media production sector.”
Paul Philpott, Managing Director of Fresh Air Studios added: “This has been a long-term project, funded independently, with a very simple aim – to build something that supports, not just our own growth objectives, but the creative production sector throughout the South West. This is about giving creatives the infrastructure to deliver at the highest level without having to head to London.”
The facilities include broadcast-style control rooms for live vision mixing and remote collaboration, a mid-sized studio for television and video podcasts, plus several smaller studios for voiceover, ADR, radio drama, podcasts and voice-first production work.

Fresh Air Studios has also recently been announced as a finalist in the Devon Business Awards 2026 across three categories: Digital Pioneer of the Year, Creative Business of the Year, and Small Business of the Year.
The new studio facility is open now, supporting productions and helping more work and creative media industry careers stay thrive in the South West.
