Masters of the Universe (2026)

Travis Knight’s 2026 Masters of the Universe (starring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms) used Beer Quarry Caves near Seaton in Devon as an underground Eternia setting for several big scenes. The ancient man-made caverns, known for their long tunnels and dramatic lighting, made for a perfect backdrop for the film, complementing other South West locations like Wells Cathedral and Wookey Hole. Rivals Series 2 (2026)
TV series

Disney+ drama based on Jilly Cooper’s Rutshire Chronicles, starring David Tennant, Aidan Turner and Alex Hassell. While mainly filmed around the Cotswolds and Bristol, season 2 ventures features Devon, with Rupert hiding Cameron Cook (Nafessa Williams) in his hideaway coastal cottage which is Blackpool Mill Cottage, a remote 15th-century retreat on the North Devon coast near Hartland Quay.

Taste of the Westcountry (2026)
TV series

ITV food and travel series (produced by Plymouth-based Rock Oyster Media) presented by Bristolian Josie Gibson, who celebrates traditional breweries, family-run bakeries and hand-dived seafood across the South West, harvesting and foraging produce for Michelin-starred chef Paul Ainsworth. Devon takes centre stage in episode four, where Josie takes a mythical bike ride on Dartmoor, joins a team of Devon gig-rowers, visits a sustainable fish market and discovers the secrets of West Country wine – alongside a visit to an organic lamb farm and a stop at Mitch Tonks’ Devon fish market. Bergerac (2025 – 2026)
TV series

Crime drama reboot of the 80s/90s BBC classic, starring Damien Molony as detective Jim Bergerac. Though set and mainly filmed in Jersey, the production makes notable use of Devon locations. Bergerac’s house exteriors were filmed at Hope Cove, a fishing village in the South Hams, standing in for Jersey, with further scenes shot in Plymouth and at Booster’s Casino in Devonport, along with Plymouth University, Exmouth Police Station and Torquay.  Read more…

Beyond Paradise (2026)

BBC spin-off of Death in Paradise, starring Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, who relocates with partner Martha to the fictional Devon coastal town of Shipton Abbott to join the local police force. The production filmed primarily in the Cornish town of Looe, however, genuine Devon locations do feature – including Buckfastleigh railway station (standing in for Shipton Abbott station), Mothecombe in South Devon, and the market town of Tavistock, plus Weir Quay Boatyard on the Devon side of the River Tamar. The Antiques Riviera (2026)
TV series

Six-part Channel 4 documentary series (produced by STV Studios), which premiered in February 2026, narrated by Robert Webb. The series follows antiques dealers and collectors hunting for valuable items along the coast of the English Riviera in Devon, with each episode featuring a fresh seller hoping to turn heirlooms into cash to fund their dreams. 

It’s a thoroughly Devon-set show – sellers offer their heirlooms to dealers up and down the Devon coastline, with viewers treated to an escapist journey through the county’s picturesque villages and towns, and the production team praised filming there, with the executive producer calling Devon “an absolute gift” with “beautiful locations, wonderfully welcoming people, and weather that couldn’t have been kinder”. The Roses (2025)
Film

Jay Roach’s 2025 black comedy, a reimagining of The War of the Roses, stars Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch as a couple whose seemingly perfect marriage descends into all-out war. Although set in Northern California, most filming took place in Devon, mainly Salcombe and Combe Martin, with additional interiors and sets built at Pinewood Studios. Salcombe’s harbourside and beaches, particularly North Sands and the real-life café The Winking Prawn, doubled for the couple’s coastal life, while the dramatic cliffs of Combe Martin in North Devon provided the rugged, windswept exteriors for the family’s modern home.

Malory Towers (2020 – 2025)
TV series

Children’s drama series produced for CBBC based on Enid Blyton’s classic book series of the same name.  The TV series features a number of Devon coastal locations, and gives a starring role to Hartland Abbey and Gardens which features as the boarding school in the series.

Escape to the Country (2012 – 2026)
TV series

Long-running BBC One daytime show following potential buyers as they’re shown homes in a chosen UK county, with Devon a recurring favourite across the years. Episodes have included North Devon in 2008 with presenter Alistair Appleton, a 2012 episode following a couple returning from France to find a house near the rim of Dartmoor, and a 2014 Devon episode with Margherita Taylor helping a buyer relocate on a tight deadline.

2026 brought a fresh run of Devon episodes: a Devon episode aired in January 2026, where Steve Brown helped a couple from Greater Manchester find an eco-friendly home, featuring local highlights like the historic Ley Arms pub in Kenn Valley, Cullompton, Branscombe beach, Ottery St Mary and Sidmouth – proof the county remains one of the show’s most-revisited UK destinations nearly two decades on.
