The film stars Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch, with locations used for filming including Salcombe and Combe Martin in Devon.
The 2026 BAFTA longlist has been released and provides a first look at how the nominations and potential winners are looking for the annual awards season.
The Roses, which is a reimagining of The War of the Roses 1989 film that starred Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, was primarily filmed in the picturesque coastal towns of Salcombe and Combe Martin in Devon, England.
Director Jay Roach found Devon’s rugged coast, lighting and atmosphere reminiscent of Northern California, making it an ideal location for the story.
Many scenes were filmed at the family-run café Winking Prawn, which is just above North Sands beach, Salcombe, with a number of Devon-based crew and companies working on the production.
Filming also took place at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire, and Los Angeles.
Round Two voting, to determine the shortlist nominations, is taking place now and closes on Tuesday 20th January 2026 and the nominations will be announced on Tuesday 27th January on the BAFTA YouTube channel.
The 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony takes place on Sunday 22nd February.
The Roses is out now and available to stream currently on Disney+.
